Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Lemon Cream Sauce

We are having a cold Spring so far this year so we are not barbecuing that much even though we are all eager to get outside and enjoy some warm weather.  It just hasn't arrived yet.  So, here is a Spring-type dish that I've made twice recently and it passed the family taste test.  I've made it for a family dinner when the kids and grandkids came over and they all loved this dinner.  We usually have the grandkids spend one or two nights here over the weekend to give mom and dad a little bit of a break and then everyone comes for dinner on Sunday.  I am always thinking of family meals to prepare and to experiment with on my family.  I served this recipe with a big bowl of fettuccine mixed with the sauce of this recipe because it makes a lot of very tasty sauce.  You will want to lick up every bite of it.  Sometimes I make meals in the crockpot if we are out and about with the grandkids on the weekend, like last weekend when we took them to the Seatt...

Happy Birthday, Mom

As everyone else writes about Veteran's Day, I write about my mother who's birthday is today.  She passed away in 2009 but today we remember her.  I was in Seattle with my sisters and we wanted to do something for her birthday.  We decided to have lunch at Dick's Drive-in because she always loved it when we took her there, her favorite place for a hamburger.   Dick's Drive-in is a Seattle classic.  It hasn't changed in 60 years, still looks the same, still the same simple menu, still must walk up to the window and order, no tables or seating, just take your food back to your car and eat it. The prices are cheap but they pay their employees well and offer health benefits, a desirable fast food place to work.  They also use local beef in the burgers.  We like the cheeseburgers best with fries - delicious - and milkshakes - delicious.  They also have regular hamburgers and Dick's Deluxe.  That's about it.  A simple menu! ...

Broadway

Broadway - Seattle, not New York, that is… This is Lauren's neighborhood so when we come to Seattle to visit - like we are now - we spend a lot of time on Broadway, a main north/south arterial on First Hill and Capitol Hill. Broadway is only one street but it's more like a district of a six block shopping strip with trendy boutiques and restaurants. Our favorite breakfast cafe is located here called Julia's where we ate today. We've been eating breakfast here for at least 25 years, usually at the Wallingford location, but now that Lauren lives on Capitol Hill we often stop in at Julia's on Broadway. Julia's offers the ultimate comfort food for breakfast, we love everything on the menu.  My favorite is the green chili and pepper jack cheese scramble. Bruce likes the Eggs Benedict. Inside is always a cozy atmosphere and always inviting. Julia's on Broadway comes alive at night, however....
