Peach Pie

I've been making peach pies a long time but now I think I finally found my best recipe. We had a dinner with a couple of Nick's friends last night so once again, I was thinking of something special to make.   Nick requested we do Korean barbecue so we bought the ribs already marinated which made it very easy for me and super tasty.  He also requested his favorite  macaroni salad  which was also a favorite of his friends.  I can't believe I haven't made that all summer...anyway, it turned out to be a great dinner with a few other sides of green salad, fruit salad, and rice.    But the peach pie was the star.  The recipe was in the Seattle Times the day before so that's how I thought of it, plus it's peak peach season right now. Banana Cream Pie

Now that Father's Day is over and our visitors have left,  I've had some time to settle down.   I thought I would post my other cream pie that I made for Father's Day this year which was a banana cream pie to accompany the chocolate cream pie.  I have only a few days left until our very busy July hits with five birthdays to celebrate, plus our anniversary, plus the fourth of July.  So, it will be a busy July.  I've made this banana cream pie several times so I am finally posting it.  In my family, chocolate cream pie is the favorite but honestly, this recipe is a close second.  I usually make them together for a big crowd which I did this year for  Father's Day because there were ten of us with my sister and her husband visiting and my brother and his wife also visiting.  There are never any complaints about having too much pie.   After everyone left, I took a week off and went on an Alaska cruise with a girlfriend which was a ukulele c...

Chocolate Cream Pie - Happy Father's Day, Daddy

Chocolate cream pie was always my dad's favorite dessert.  This year for Father's Day, we decided to celebrate my dad since my kids were not here and my sister's kids were not here.  However, my other sister and her husband were visiting from Colorado and her son lives here so she was the lucky one.  My brother and his wife also were visiting from Idaho so four of the seven children were here to honor my dad on Father's Day and that's just what we did. Below are all of us in 1979; my mom and dad and the five girls and two boys.  My dad was always so proud of all of us and we all wanted to make him proud, too, and with no strings attached.  We talk about that often, even to this day, about how we all turned out to be fairly well adjusted people even though our parents were not strict parents at all.  The fact that we survive our wild years of youth all in one piece is amazing!  We're old now (boo hoo) but still in one piece aside from a few joint replac...
