Clean Ranch Dip and Dressing

I am ready to start eating "clean" again and get back on my plan with   Hannah Freese, RD .    I am actually craving salads right now after so much Christmas celebrating.  We had family gatherings on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the day after Christmas so it was non-stop there for awhile. Plus, we had the grandkids sleepover at our house beginning the 21st thru the 26th so I made a point of having everything ready for the family gatherings before that. That was a good thing because we had horrendous weather including an ice storm so we couldn't go out much at all. We woke up on the 23rd covered with ice! Needless to say, it caused major havoc with Christmas traveling since our airport was basically shut down.  But it did not effect us.  The grandkids are happy playing nonstop at our house especially after going to the Nutcracker.  They made up all kinds of Nutcracker games.  We had so much good food during all the celebrations, of course. ...

Sourdough Pizza Crust

Over the holidays, I experimented with making pizza crust with my sourdough starter that I got during the first year of the pandemic.  (I guess that's how we'll refer to the pandemic now;  the first year - 2020, the second year - 2021, the third year -2022...)  I wrote about it  here  when I made our first sourdough pancakes with the sourdough starter.  When I made this pizza crust recipe, everyone LOVED this pizza crust as much as the sourdough pancakes.  The crust did not really taste "sour", interestingly.  The pizza as a whole was just very yummy.   I prefer the New York style pizza crust that is very thin and crisp.  If you like the deep dish Chicago-style pizza crust, you could probably still use this recipe for that, too.  It's just how you decided to spread it out on the pan.  This recipe describes the New York style which will make 3 medium pizzas or 2 larger pizzas.  Of course, what you prefer for your toppi...

Joy to All

We are enjoying the calm after the storm.  I'm referring to the whirl-wind of Christmas plus also the actual snow storm we had resulting in a white Christmas this year, a rarity around here.      We were so lucky to have a white Christmas this year.  Seattle only gets a white Christmas 7 out of 100 Christmas's.  Plus, it started snowing on Christmas Eve and was still snowing on Christmas morning to make it even more exciting. Here is a photo from our front porch on Christmas Eve.  It was so serene.     We went out for dinner to Ivar's Acres of Clams on Christmas Eve, one of our favorite places to eat.  We drove the suburban in 4-wheel drive to pick up Lauren and Ari and then drove to the restaurant which was only a few miles away on the waterfront.     Seattle is not equip to deal with snow and with all the hills, it makes it a challenge to drive so we were glad we had a large vehicl...
