A Week of Celebrations

We are now home after a week of celebrating our July birthdays and our wedding anniversary in Seattle, as well as having a wonderful, relaxing vacation.  You might think with all that celebrating it was hard to relax but when you're staying at a lovely   beach bungalow , it's very easy to get into that relaxed mode. The bungalow was located just down from a restaurant called   Palisade   that we decided is a new favorite of ours with beautiful scenery at the Elliot Bay Marina. We went there for   my birthday   and then again for our 33rd wedding anniversary on Friday night. This time I ordered the Alaska halibut with chorizo and clams served on paella.  It was a perfect combination because halibut is so mild but chorizo really gaves it some zip along with the paella.   Bruce ordered the same thing but he also ordered the Dungeness Crab and Lobster Bisque. I ordered the Romaine and Tuscan Kale Ceasar salad.  I'm always looking for

Beach Bungalow

My birthday week celebration continues.  We are loving our beach rental on Puget Sound in Seattle. Bruce and I feel like we are on a cruise because we hear the waves constantly and it is so soothing and relaxing. We occasionally see the cruise ships pass by which is another reason we feel like we're on a cruise. They then proceeded to go to Populuxe Brewing     Stoup Brewing Jolly Roger Taproom If you remember rule #1, well,  I sort of broke it again... But after 5 breweries, they really didn't care at this point.   Lauren and I met them at Elysian Fields brewery before the Mariner game on Saturday, even though "no girls allowed" on the pub crawl.  It was Iwakuma bobble head night at Safeco Field and we had to get our bo

Birthday Celebration

Last night, we celebrated my birthday at   Palisade restaurant   in Seattle  with Barbara, Jim and Lauren on a beautiful, summer evening by the water.  It doesn't get much better than this. I've always loved having my birthday in the summer.  I love hot weather, I love being outdoors, I love summer food, I love summer drinks and I love being by the water.  This restaurant is next to a marina which makes for some picturesque views.  And there was beauty every direction you looked. We are making the most of my birthday week by renting a place on the water, too, just to make sure we get our fill since we're coming from a landlocked state. Lauren came over to check out our digs before dinner and she approved. Palisade restaurant is just around the corner. But this week is really more than just celebrating my birthday because our wedding anniversary is July 18th, Nick's birthday was July 8th, and Lauren's is July 25th.  So, we have 7 days to
