Happy Birthday, Bruce

The month of September is nearly over now and I think we finally finished celebrating Bruce's birthday that was on September 8th.  I believe he had a total of four celebrations this month.  They just kept happening! I guess when you turn 70, that's a big deal, right?  We celebrated in a big way this year with a trip to Las Vegas to see the Eagles in concert at the Sphere.   We just returned so it's still fresh in our minds and we can't stop thinking about how spectacular it all was.  It's the most amazing venue in the world for a concert.  They designed the Sphere so acoustics are absolutely perfect and the visuals are amazing.  I wrote about it last year when we saw  Postcards from Earth  during our trip there.  But an actual music concert, and with none other than the Eagles, well…it was phenomenal.  I wish I could go again.   There are 167,000 speakers in the sphere that you don't see at all.  I don't understand all the...

July Celebrations

Well, so far I am surviving the busiest month of the year of multiple birthdays and all the various celebrations of July.   When the kids were little, I would basically collapse when August came and say “I survived July!!” because it truly was an accomplishment.  We have my birthday in July, Nick’s birthday, Lauren’s birthday, (and Hana and Keaton’s birthdays but they aren’t here right now), our anniversary and then the Fourth of July all in one month.  It’s basically nonstop around here. Also, my sister came to visit this month from Colorado to see her newborn grandson (another celebration!) who lives just a few miles from our house so it was perfect for her to stay with us, plus I love having her here for lots of sister-time.  Of course, we had a family barbecue during her visit so we could all welcome the new addition to our family.  It was also good timing that my sister was here for my birthday, too.  We all went to dinner at a local neighborhood favor...

July Celebrations

We returned from Europe and it's been nonstop since.  Fortunately, for whatever reason, we did not have jet lag on this trip so we were able to hit the ground running as soon as we returned.  Nick came home with us from Spain because he had planned to attend the MLB All-Star game since Seattle hosted this year.   It's a huge event in town that lasted five days. But before all that began, he headed to Oregon to attend a golf tournament with eight other college baseball friends for four days of marathon golfing.  (118 holes of golf, to be exact). They are a pretty tight group of friends from their college baseball days together at George Fox University in Oregon.   They ended up being a Hall of Fame group of guys, actually.  They were inducted into their college's Hall of Fame in 2021, a very prestigious award.  Nick returned from Oregon just in time to celebrate his birthday, the first of many in July for our family.  Sometimes it gets hard fitting...
