Soup season seems to last longer than we'd like to admit.  But, yes, it's still soup season.  We're having spring fever around here and, yes, the weather is getting warmer, sunnier, and overall just very nice and pleasant outside.  But I'm still craving the warmth of a hot soup.  We had this minestrone soup recently and everyone loved it.  My sister made it at her house but she's not sure where she got the recipe so I'll just give her all the credit. Her preparation of this dinner was a job well done! This is a simple dessert that packs a lot of punch for such little bite-size morsels.  We had these as one of the many dessert options in Washington D.C. where we visited last week. My sister, Jolene, lives there with her husband who are wonderful hosts when visiting D.C.  It turns out that Nick was in D.C.  for a work conference and then five other members of my family were there visiting for various reasons...so we had to go and join all the  fun. My sister and her husband were very tolerant when we invaded there otherwise quiet life.  In fact, they rolled out the red carpet for us.   We had such a great time.  The three cousins hadn't been together in years so it was a reunion of sorts.   Coming as far away as Sp ain, San Francisco, and Seattle, it's a rare and special occasion when they can get together.  And their moms had a good time, too.  There was only one evening that we could all get-together at the same time and that is...

Bruce had another trade show last weekend in Washington DC so I decided to tag along because my sister lives in Bethesda, Maryland. My sister, Jolene, has lived here around 35 years and her husband, Jim, has lived here his whole life. Needless to say, they both work for the Federal government; Jolene, for the Justice Department and Jim, for the Federal Court System. We have had great personal tours of DC from both of them over the years. They are good at adding that special insider's view of Washington DC (like seeing the "Highest Court in the Land", which is a basketball court located several floors above the Supreme Court) and our favorite, the Exorcist Stairs in Georgetown. I was a teenager when that movie came out so it left an impression, what can I say...so we always have to go see this spot in Georgetown. Also, next door, we saw that the Excorist House was for sale.
