Low Sugar Granola

With all our cold weather we've been having, our appetites have been very particular.  Soups have been our favorite for dinner while we watch the Winter Olympics.  Last night, it started snowing as we watched Lindsay Vonn's last Olympic race in the alpine combined.    She was ahead after the downhill portion but then she made a mistake early on in the slalom and didn't finish.  She was the last one to go and it had just started to snow right before she went.  Sort of a sad finish for her but she said she was just grateful to be there at all.  I mean, after all, she is 33 years old!  She said she doesn't think her body can take another four years.  Really?  My body couldn't have taken any of it, regardless of age. LOL.  It started snowing there about the same time it started snowing here. We were eating our leftover gumbo  in front of the fire trying to stay warm, as big puffy snowflakes fell outsid...

Happy Valentine's Day

Raspberry Sweetie Pies, these are our Valentine's Day dessert tonight.  We are having our dessert from Whole Foods tonight with leftovers from all our dinners this week…isn't that romantic?  No cooking for me but we're still eating good food and we're going to do our favorite thing that only happens every two years…watch the Olympics!  I LOVED last night with the 3 slopestyle skiers winning 1-2-3 medals, only the third time in history.  And all three have such great stories which makes this so inspirational.   Joss Christensen   won gold and was skiing with a photo of his dad in his pocket who just passed away in August (makes me want to cry).  Gus Kenworthy   won silver and is trying to rescue stray dogs in Sochi and working to bring some home with him, just like I would be doing…apparently, like so many countries, they don't spay or neuter animals in Russia so there is an overpopulation of strays.   Nick Goepper   won bron...

Post Olympic Gold Metal Meal

Yes, seriously! I saw these two swimmers interviewed on the  Today Show  broadcasted  in London and I wasn't really surprised but it is a little heartbreaking. I always joke at my job in the hospital that the most popular place that patients tell me they will go after they discharge is to McDonald's.  (After they are re-admitted back into the hospital)  I guess it isn't any different for Olympic athletes.  Here is the article taken off the internet on Yahoo!News.  Note: They do say in the article that they do eat "healthily" (which I'm sure is true for what they accomplish) and McDonald's is in their Olympic dining hall, the world's biggest, by the way, since they are an official Olympic sponsor.  America will always be America. Ricky Berens was part of the gold-medal-winning relay Tuesday night that put Michael Phelps in the record books. It was the second gold medal of his career and his second overall medal in 2012. The race also...
