Nashville Hot Chicken at Sisters and Brothers Kitchen

Do you want the best fried chicken you've ever had accompanied with the best sides, drink a nice cold beer while you watch airplanes land and to be able to sit outside on a sunny summer day?  Well, we did so we headed over to Sisters and Brothers yesterday, a bar at the north end of Boeing Field.   It also just happens to be close to where the Blue Angels are parked.  The Blue Angels have been in town all week practicing for their air show today and tomorrow and we've had fun watching them practice from the view at our house  and also at Lake Washington where we spent the day yesterday. We joined some of my family at the lake to watch the Blue Angels and the unlimited hydroplanes time trials for the big race on Sunday. It's free to watch the time trials but there is a $40 entrance fee on Saturday and Sunday so we choose the cheaper version.   It's still pretty thrilling to watch them race around the cours...

Bellini

Our local store, Metropolitan Market, is having their Peach-O-Rama again and the peaches are incredible. The peaches are picked from the tree and put into the shipping boxes within minutes and then shipped to the store immediately and we are eating them within hours of them being on the tree. So, we are eating a lot of peaches right now. Last year, I featured peach cobbler during this same time of year during Peach-O-Rama. This year, I hosted a birthday brunch for my brother's 50th birthday over the weekend so I decided to make bellini drinks which is Prosecco (Italian sparkling wine) and peach puree. My neighbor served these drinks at our neighborhood social which is where I got the idea. It is basically 2:1 with prosecco to peach puree. For one drink: 1/2 cup prosecco 1/4 cup peach puree We went through 2 bottles of prosecco for 12 people (not everyone had a drink but then many had more than one drink...)  We used wine glasses since we only have...

Picnic and Parade of Ships

Seafair is in full swing now with the Blue Angels arriving yesterday and they will begin practicing this week for their air show on Sunday.  That means bridge closures and lane closures - in other words, don't try to drive anywhere Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.  If you avoid certain areas, I guess it's O.K, but actually, it's still bad because everybody is looking up to try to see them.  It's worse than driving and texting when the Blue Angels are flying around town.  Today, was the Parade of Ships when navy ships arrive in Elliot Bay.  We watched th em   last year  while Marge and I dined at Duke's for lunch.  This year, we took a picnic lunch down to Alki to watch them on the beach.  It was a lovely day to be on the beach, not too hot, not too cold.   Bruce joined us briefly for a lunch break and took the above picture of us before he had to return to Fremont Brewing for work again.  I brought a simple picni...

Peach Cobbler

I haven't been doing a lot of cooking lately during this  phase two   of moving but I got a craving the other day for cobbler because the peaches are so gorgeous and addicting right now.  Our local grocery store made an announcement that its Peach-o-Rama time and we've been eating them daily. The peaches are picked in Wapato, Washington at a local orchard called  Pence Orchard , immediately put into the shipping boxes within 3 minutes of picking and arrive at the store within hours of being on the tree. And they taste like it, too.  We can't stop eating them.  Thus, the craving for peach cobbler.  We invited my family over for   Seafair Sunday  which is the biggest day of  Seafair  in Seattle.  Seafair is a festival that goes for several weeks in Seattle during the summer with the highlight being Seafair Sunday when the hydroplanes race on Lake Washington and the Blue Angels perform overhead.  The fi...
