We went to our first Christmas party of the season last night and I just had to post all the festive food ideas. It was an appetizer, drinks and dessert Christmas party for about eight of us neighbors. It's nice to just walk down the street past three houses and we're there.
My neighbor, Karen, loves to host parties and I've written about her parties here and here and other various places. We've lived on this street going on ten years now and I can't even remember how many of her parties we've been to. One of her best parties was when she turned 80 a couple of years ago and she had an 80's themed party. (I went with the Madonna-look).
Her food spread is always impressive.
That party was in the summer so we could go outside and use her deck which is nice because we all have great views on our street.
Karen is a lot like me in that she loves to decorate to the max which makes her parties so fun. She offered three drinks at this Christmas party. I liked the Santa Hats which were daiquiris with a coconut rim. The ones in the photo below next to the daiquiris were a martini that looked like Rudolph - so cute; two cinnamon sticks for the ears and a maraschino cherry for the noise and the third drink was a festive mojito.
Like the drinks, the food was also Christmas themed. Here are cute ideas anybody can do with a little imagination and I don't think they need much of an explanation or recipe. Like this cheese ball that looks like Rudolph; a pretzel for the ears, a maraschino cherry for the noise and olives for the eyes.
For dessert, she offered us four options: eggnog creme brulle, English toffee pudding, chocolate mouse...
Needless to say, it was hard to decide what to eat - so many options which is always Karen's party theme if you haven't noticed. 'Tis the season to be merry! Now go indulge in some happy holiday parties and I hope you get to experience some fun festive food.
Love all the clever ideas!
