Time is going by so fast, we forgot which anniversary we were celebrating last night. But officially, it was our 36th anniversary, even though I reported it incorrectly when making dinner reservations. Oops.
We went to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Palisade, which we've been to many times. They never fail to make it a special evening, from the food to the view. When our server approached our table, we once again had to discuss which anniversary we were celebrating but we eventually figured it out.
We started early because we wanted to see the cruise ship depart on it's way to Alaska. We followed it along through Magnolia neighborhood which has spectacular views, bringing back memories of our house-hunting days. We had looked at many houses around Magnolia when we were house-hunting and loved Magnolia Boulevard for walking and taking in views of Puget Sound. It also brought memories back of staying at the beach bungalow during one of visits to Seattle in 2014. (When you've been married 36 years, you spend a lot more time "bringing back memories".) It was this visit in 2014 when we first experienced eating at Palisade and we've been going back ever since.
We were so early for our reservations that we went to Maggie Bluff's, the more casual restaurants at Palisades, to sit outside for a drink and appetizer. It was such a beautiful evening to sit outside and enjoy the view.
Once our reservation time arrived, we headed upstairs to Palisade and immediately ordered our drinks. I had their Pink Lady; Prosecco, raspberry vodka, fresh lemon and raspberries. It was so refreshing, slightly sweet but not too much and the raspberry flavor was perfect.
Bruce had a margarita at Maggie Bluff's so he had wine for dinner. We ordered their signature appetizer; Pupu Tower - teriyaki tenderloins, grilled garlic prawns and crab cakes. Every one of those items is a favorite.
For dinner, Bruce ordered their parmesan crusted halibut cheeks with rainbow carrots and saffron rice
and I ordered their butter poached gulf shrimp, wagyu flank steak with parmesan Brussels sprouts and truffle mashed potatoes.
I immediatley ate all the shrimp, then one or two bites of the amazingly tender flank steak and some of the mashed potatoes and then I was full. I also had some of the Brussels sprouts which were really unique. They were flaked and broiled, then salted with kosher large crystal salt. They were almost like kale chips only Brussels sprout chips but warm. They were very light and airy, an easy way to eat Brussels sprouts. We were both so full but we had to order dessert, of course, their seasonal dessert that was a strawberry chocolate cake.
It was a great way to end a fun evening celebrating our anniversary, even if we couldn't remember exactly which one it was.
