Our visit to the Hotel del Coronado continues to be a very magical time.
I love the Crown Room and today we got to spend our Sunday morning tasting the best of the Del.
It was the best Sunday Brunch I've ever been to. You can feel the presence of L. Frank Baum in this room because of the beautiful crown lights that he designed hanging above us and they look like they're right out of the Wizard of Oz. He apparently wrote a couple of the sequels of the Wizard of Oz here at the Del and he would often have story time out on the beach and read to the children of guests on the beach. Can you imagine? And I think we experienced the hotel's ghost last night because our bathroom light kept going on by itself as we slept! So weird. But we woke up with a good appetite ready for our Sunday brunch.
The seafood here is incredible and last night at the convention's cocktail party, I mostly attacked the shrimp (among other things) but today I aimed for the crab.
My first plate looked like this
with a few more shrimp, homemade sausage and roasted vegetables with a few fresh mozzarella balls with my crab legs. They pretty much had any cheese you could want.
Other protein choices were prime rib, honey smoked ham, roast turkey and leg of lamb, all freshly carved.
I loved all the labeling they used on the food choices.
They made it very easy to eat your vegetables at this Sunday brunch, they were gorgeous and delicious.
And if you wanted a to salt your food, there was quite a selection of gourmet salts
and lots of different sauces for your meat.
No Sunday brunch is complete without a chocolate fountain, especially in the Crown Room
and we certainly took advantage of it.
as well as a few of the dessert options.
bread pudding
Would you like a some angel food cake
with a little whipped cream?
Or some cheesecake where you add your own topping of choice.
flourless cake
and my favorite was the orange panna cotta.
The cupcakes were too cute to eat, I loved how they decorated the tops.
You could have them decorate the tops anyway you'd like, if you so desired.
If this wasn't enough, there were candy jars for you to help yourself, as well.
Candy not your thing? How about some Baily's Irish Cream shots? They go down real easy...
Bailey's too sweet? The champagne was flowing...
Mimosas were our drink of choice. Cheer's to the Del!
