Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Once again, we are bypassing our Super Bowl party this year because we are going to Seattle to watch the Seahawks play, just like we did last year .  Go Hawks! We would never pass up an opportunity to experience the excitement that is going on in that city right now.  Even Lauren, who was never a big football fan, is totally into it.  She watched the Seahawks play last Sunday with her front door open so she and friends could hear the stadium as they watched it on T.V.  She lives only a few miles from CenturyLink Field which is the loudest stadium in the league and once again, they won the NFC Championship game, in a miraculous (and exhausting!) fashion.  We were texting with her and Nick in Japan, as we were in  San Diego  for Bruce's convention.  It was a very intense Sunday afternoon as my whole family was watching that game.  Bruce and I had to go out and burn off all our tension on the beach after that game.  We walked d...

Sunday Brunch at the Del

Our visit to the Hotel del Coronado continues to be a very magical time. I love the Crown Room and today we got to spend our Sunday morning tasting the best of the Del.  It was the best  Sunday Brunch  I've ever been to.  You can feel the presence of L. Frank Baum in this room because of the beautiful crown lights that he designed hanging above us and they look like they're right out of the Wizard of Oz.  He apparently wrote a couple of the sequels of the Wizard of Oz here at the Del and he would often have story time out on the beach and read to the children of guests on the beach.  Can you  imagine?  And I think we experienced the hotel's ghost   last night because our bathroom light kept going on by itself as we slept!  So weird.  But we woke up with a good appetite ready for our Sunday brunch. The seafood here is incredible and last night at the convention's cocktail party, I mostly atta...

California Dreamin'

On my last post about spending New Year's in San Francisco, I mentioned how I loved all the history everywhere you went.  Now, I am at the famous and historical Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego and I just might never leave this place.  Bruce has a convention here so I decided to tag along.  And talk about historical...much of this place is original that was built in 1888 and it is so gorgeous.  It even has a   ghost story   attached to this hotel  about a beautiful, young woman who checked into room 3327 in 1892 and never checked out... and so many famous people have been here including eleven U.S Presidents starting with Benjamin Harrison in 1891 and the person I mainly know this place for... Marilyn Monroe in the movie Some Like it Hot with Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, known as the greatest American comedy of all time.  I always loved that movie.  Charles Lindberg was also here after he accomplished his flight ...
