After the Pub Crawl weekend, it's time to recuperate at the beach - Seaside, Oregon - that is.
We had a tradition of coming here for the week of the 4th of July when the kids were little
because this town is very "kid-friendly" and has a very fun 4th of July celebration.
So, after many years, we decided to return for a vacation.
Seaside is where Lewis and Clark ended their 18-month long, 4,000 mile journey from St. Loius in 1805 and there is a statue at the turnaround in Seaside to commemorate them.
There are lots of other Lewis and Clark landmarks to visit while here including Fort Clatsop, where they stayed between 1805 - 1806 and the Salt Works
It is located in the middle of the neighborhood amongst all the super cute beach houses that I love looking at.
I should be looking at the beach but my head is always turned in the opposite direction at the super cute beach houses.
My favorite part of Seaside is walking on the promenade or "Prom".
This is where "house-watching" is the best.
The Prom has been a Seaside favorite since the 1920's.
It is 1-1/2 miles long and fifteen feet wide so plenty of room.
Walking into town on the prom is a great way to start each day and there is so many cute shops and eateries in downtown Seaside.
Seaside is "kid-friendly" because there are arcades,
bummer cars, a mall with a carousel
an old time soda fountain
There definitely is something for everybody.
Tomorrow Seaside will have their 4th of July parade and then fireworks on the beach for a spectacular show. I can't wait!
