Masters Weekend

Ever since we went to the Masters in 2010  with my sister and her husband, we have gotten together on Masters Sunday for a southern food feast and watch the final day of the historic golf tournament.  This year was exciting since one of our favorite golfers won, Rory Mcllroy, in a sudden-death playoff.  That was exciting.  My sister invited her childhood girlfriend and her husband who are also avid golfers to the Masters Sunday feast this year.  The more the merrier is our motto.  And we really had a feast, too.  The main entree this year was shrimp & grits, recipe from the NY Times that my sister made.  It was made with a flavorful tomato base with jumbo shrimp and she served it in bowls on top of the grits.  So good! This really could have been a meal on its own, it was so good.  But we had to include all the fixin's, mostly out of our notorious  Mrs. Wilkes Cookbook .  We both bought her cookbook after we ate at her dinn...

Waffle Party! Yeast-Raised Waffles

We recently had the best waffles we've ever eaten and it was at none other than a waffle party.   And the waffle party was none other than in New York City.  Eating doesn't get much better than this.  This was at my cousin's apartment in New York City located in the Upper West Side.  I've mentioned her before when her apartment (or called a co-op in New York) was featured in the New York Times in 2012  here .   Thirteen years later, I'm finally getting to see her place and she really rolled out the red carpet for us.  Bruce and I were visiting New York on our way to Washington D.C. to see Nick who was there for work.  And we loved every minute of being in New York.  I also have a nephew who lives there and we met up with him, as well.  Both of my relatives who live there are the most wonderful, fun people and our take-away after visiting New York is that the people there are extremely outgoing, fun-loving with very interesting lives. ...
