I, Tonya

I am obsessed with Tonya Harding right now. After I saw her at the Golden Globes, I was shocked and thought, "What the heck is she doing there?". I'd seen previews of the upcoming movie and was eager to see it because I remember the whole incident really well and was obsessed with it back in 1994. Then I noticed several documentaries on TV with the real Tonya being interviewed and I watched all three of them.  I read interviews with the stars from I, Tonya and realized nobody really knows what the truth is about the 1994 Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan incident. Really? I remember it very well and didn't know there was any question. Then I wondered if Hollywood was just sympathizing with her because of her rough upbringing so I had to see the movie.  To make a long story short, Tonya Harding was born in Portland, Oregon into an impoverished and abusive household with her chain-smoking mother, LaVona Golden, played sensationally by A

Olivia's Weeklong Wedding Celebration

We had a wedding in our family last weekend; my niece, Olivia married her boyfriend, Caleb.  I wrote about this up-coming event when we went to Olivia's bridal  shower  in December.  Olivia is the daughter of my brother, Bob, and his wife, Jennifer.  They live in the area so all the events took place nearby which made it very convenient for us.  We had a lot of family arrive into town for the big day starting on Friday of last week.   The first night that everyone was in town, we all met at an Ale House for dinner (one of many, many Ale Houses in Seattle.)  Our favorite one, the 74th St Ale House, is too small for the crowd that was coming so we opted for a larger one across from Green Lake called Jak's.  It use to be called the Green Lake Ale House but they recently changed their name.  There were 16 of us so we got two tables in the back and it was really quite perfect.  Lots of talking and silliness, as this was our first gathering of the week as

Tastiest Top Three

Looking back on 2017, I thought I'd let you know which recipes were the most popular.  It was a good year.  Or should I say, it was a yummy year!   I am happy to announce that coming in at #3 is my favorite recipe for 2017, my  Lemon Curd and White Chocolate Truffle Cake .   I was obsessed with this cake and made it three times last year.  Obviously, I made it for Easter for the first time (thus the Easter eggs on it).  I also made it for Lauren's birthday...again it was totally delicious and perfect for our celebration.    I also made it when we had some of Bruce's business associates over for dinner when they were in town for the International Speciality Coffee Convention.   They look very business-like in this photo but they were actually a very fun group and they loved the cake.   I made a point of not serving a lot of carbs for this dinner (the main coarse was our favorite  Herbes de Provence Crusted Lamb Chops ) so the cake was a welcomed sigh
