Apple Cranberry Moscow Mule

The holiday season is official here so who wants a festive drink?  We all do, admit it.  How about a refreshing Apple Cranberry Moscow Mule?  These are a little different from my other   Holiday Moscow Mules  because you use sparkling apple cider instead of lime juice.  The sparkling apple cider gives it more a "fall" theme and they are super easy to prepare. Makes 1 drink 1.  Fill cup full of ice.  2.  Add:  2 oz. of vodka          1 oz. cranberry cocktail           a full shot (1-1/2 oz) sparkling apple juice            3.  Fill cup to the top with ginger beer 4.  Garnish with sliced limes and cranberries I hosted a post- Thanksgiving dinner at our house yesterday and served these drinks along with an array of appetizers while we waited for everyone to arrive.  We had Thanksgiving at my sister's house so I ...

It's the Little Things

In all the preparations for Thanksgiving, I cherish the little things that make it special, like this turkey butter sculpture that I found in our local grocery store. The brand is Keller's Creamery from Philadelphia. They have been around since 1906 but I can't say I've seen these adorable turkey butter sculptures before. Maybe it's taken this long to reach the West Coast? They plan on having bunny sculptures for Easter in the Spring, too. I already bought one when Lauren came over for dinner awhile ago...and we didn't even serve anything that needed butter. But that's how cute they are. You just have to have one! I've mentioned before that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday but I will admit I've started adding a little of Christmas to it now. Is it weird to have a fall floral arrangement in front of the Christmas tree? Last year we put up the Christmas tree before Thanksgiving because Nick, Sachiyo and Hana were coming t...

Watson Kennedy...and Much, Much More

Sylvia's Christmas List:  Anything at Watson Kennedy. Period. That was easy.  Yep, I'm easy to shop for.  Just head down to Watson Kennedy on First Ave. and Spring and you will make me a very happy person.  This is my new favorite store. Today, they had their Holiday Open House, complete with mimosas, some special brew  Pollard Coffee  from Vashon Island and a tasting of various local spreads with bread from Sea Wolf Bakery . I mean, just look at this gorgeous bread.  I wrote about Sea Wolf bakery last spring on my scrumptious   Mother's Day   post. My brother-in-law organized quite the spread for us and we were all very happy moms.   Remember all those incredible breads?  Very yummy.  Well, they were from Sea Wolf bakery, too. Watson Kennedy provided only the finest for their Open House.  If you are wondering who Watson Kennedy is, just check ou t his  website .  You can ...
