19 Days and Counting

We've had more snow, sleet and hail around here and 10 degrees below the normal temperature for this time of year.   Really?  Who is  counting the days until Spring ?  Me.  We had another white-out view at our house which is the worse weather, in my opinion.  I don't even mind the rain because at least we still have our view but not when it's like this.  I must sound spoiled or something.  I realized after posting yesterday about how slow our life has been so far this year, it's in contrast to last year.  I looked back at 2016 and I don't think I even had time to think about the weather.  Each month we were either going on a trip, hosting visitors at our house or throwing a party.  That's called living life to it's fullest!   We moved here August 2015 and here's a rundown of our life the first 12 months: Sept 2015  -   Labor Day family barbecue/Bruce's birthday party       trip to Washington, D.C.   for  Bruce's trade show and vis

Living Through the Eyes of a Child

Life has been slow for Bruce and I so far in 2017 (except for our Super Bowl party).   February is almost over already so I thought I better post something so you know I'm still alive.     Bruce has been traveling for work so I haven't been cooking much and we haven't had any social occasions to cook for, so yeah, life has been pretty slow. I did join our local YMCA and started swimming and taking a water exercise class 3-4 times a week.  It's amazing how much time it takes to do that.  Luckily, I have the time but I hardly get anything else done during the day.  The water class is 45 minutes (I usually get in a little early) and then I swim laps for about 30-45 minutes (then I cool down by just swimming around slowly for 15 minutes) so I'm in the pool for 2 hours.  It feels great to be in a pool again. I never feel like rushing to get out and will usually lounge around in the hot tub for awhile, too.  They also have a sauna and steam room which I haven'

Snowy Super Bowl 2017

Super Bowl Sunday this year will be remembered by...the remarkable comeback by the Patriots in overtime?  No.  Lady Gaga's halftime show? No. The commercials?  No. It will be remembered by the over night snow blast that arrived right about the time the game ended. It snowed all night and still continues today for an accumulation of 2 to 14 inches, depending where you live in the area and your elevation.  Here's what our backyard looks like.   We don't get snow here very often so it's a big deal.   Driving is treacherous because of all the hills so the schools were cancelled and a lot of people stayed home from work today.  By Thursday, it will warm up to 50 degrees so this will last about one day.  It's beautiful outside while it lasts, which usually isn't very long when it snows here.  I'm just glad our friends got home safely since it was snowing when they all left our party. I was a little worried about that.   One friend texted me an
