Every trip to Seaside means a trip to the neighboring town of Cannon Beach, home of the famous Haystack Rock.
We always spend some time here when we come to the Oregon coast.
Besides being such a beautiful spot, Cannon Beach is also known for it's popular kite flying on the beach
and there was certainly enough wind on this day to fly your kite.
There is usually not any shortage of wind on the Oregon coast.
I liked the space shuttle kite.
(My windblown, right-off-the-beach look)
This leads to the next thing Cannon Beach is popular for and that is for it's great restaurants
and shopping.
I've certainly bought my share of stuff at these shops over the years
including…you guessed it…salt water taffy!
Now we had worked up an appetite so we headed to Moe's for some dinner with a view of Haystack Rock.
Moe's is a restaurant that's been there a long time, since 1946 to be exact
and it really hasn't changed all that much.
Bruce remembers coming here with his family as a kid.
Their prices haven't changed much, either, which is why large families come here to eat.
They are known for their Crab and Shrimp Louis so that's exactly what I ordered! For a burger and fries-type place, this salad was delicious, so fresh and crisp with a hefty topping of crab! I loved it and it really hit the spot for being at the beach.
Don't miss Cannon Beach if you go to the Oregon coast. It's one of the best "must see" places.
