Serves 4-6
1 pound ground turkey breast
1 pound lean ground beef
3/4 cup bread crumbs
2 eggs
cooking spray
1 cup water
3 Tbsp. tomato paste
2 Tbsp. Madeira wine or dry sherry
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1 (10- 1/2 ounce) can condensed French onion soup
1. Combine first 4 ingredients.
2. Divide meat mixture into 6 -8 equal portions, shaping each into a 1/2 inch thick patty.
3. Heat a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat. Add patties, cook 6 minutes or until browned, turning after 3 minutes.
4. Remove patties from pan; keep warm.
5. Stir in water and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil.
6. Add patties.
7. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes. Uncover and cook until wine mixture is reduced to about 1 cup (about 10 minutes).
