Returning to Venice

We finally made it back to one of our favorite European cities; Venice, Italy.  We were there nine years ago on a  Rick Steves Tour  in 2016, my first trip to Europe.  It was a Best of Italy tour that started in the north and worked its way south where we ended in Rome.  I wrote multiple blog posts on that trip labeled  Italy '16 .  I was pretty excited about my first trip to E urope.  When I think back to that time...how things have changed.  Bruce and I are such seasoned travelers now (thanks to Nick living in Japan and Spain).  Not to mention how I'm in such better shape after three joint replacement surgeries. I can easily walk and walk and walk without all the issues I previously had. Thank goodness. We also don't feel we need a Rick Steves tour guide to help us along. Spain

We spent most of our month of May traveling again to see the grandkids in Spain and it was one of our best trips yet.  I can't even say which part was the best because we did so many fun activities.  We like to visit other places on our way to and from Spain so this time we went to Venice, Italy; Nice, France; and then our favorite of all - Paris. All stops were truly wonderful.  But I would have to say that spending time with family is always the best and Nick & Sachiyo do a great job hosting us.  One of the highlights of this visit was attending the FĆ©ria  (festival) in the town of Jerez where the beautiful Andalusian horses reside.  Nick and Sachiyo live in El Puerto (they are having their FĆ©ria this weekend) which is right next to Jerez so it was an easy drive.  When we arrived, we immediately got on one of the many horse and carriages to take a tour of the grounds of the FĆ©ria which is the size of a typical state fair in the States.  The ...
